NatWest Group is set to shut 32 branches – including a number in the East Midlands – with 21 under its NatWest brand closing as well as 11 RBS branches.
The bank says this comes as more people turn to online services.
Most jobs are safe, with the company noting 12 jobs were at risk while the majority of those impacted would be transferred to other branches.
NatWest branches set to close in the East Midlands include Nottingham City, Bulwell and Hucknall in Nottinghamshire, and Derby Crompton House, Derbyshire.
Meanwhile Royal Bank of Scotland closures are set for Leicester Market Street and in Nottingham City Centre.
