Speaking with Business Link, Amy Biddell, director at Mather Jamie, said: “This is Mather Jamie’s second year of sponsoring the Bricks Awards. The event is a great way to promote our services to an elite audience of landowners, property developers and building contractors. This can include special requirements, features or elements that make the commercial development stand out from the crowd.

Speaking with Business Link, Andrew Cooper, Managing Director at Global HSE Group, said: “We are delighted to be a sponsor of this year’s East Midlands Bricks Awards 2024, shining a light on the region’s property and construction industry, specifically the Commercial Development of the Year category. We look forward to attending the awards ceremony where we can network with business leaders and recognise the excellent work within the region.”

EMEC Ecology – sponsor of Contractor of the Year

Established in 1991, East Midlands Environmental Consultants (trading as EMEC Ecology) is a one stop shop for specialist ecology, land management and arboriculture services.

They provide their services to developers, planners, architects, power and extraction industries, utility companies, local authorities, government agencies and homeowners.

EMEC Ecology’s work includes major infrastructure contracts and large-scale ecological impact assessments for housing and industry. They provide a wide range of services for habitat creation and restoration projects, as well as urban greening and management planning for nature reserves. They also carry out bat surveys of barns and churches and habitat surveys of small-scale developments.

Focusing on the contractors who work on the project, EMEC Ecology’s sponsored category celebrates builders, construction companies and the contractors themselves, and nominees should be those who have gone above and beyond the word of the contract to deliver a truly exceptional service.

Speaking with Business Link, Ed Tripp, Consultancy Director at EMEC, said: “EMEC is the go to Environmental Consultancy based within the region, for ecology, biodiversity and land management services. EMEC decided to sponsor Contractor of the Year in order to contribute to rewarding exciting and innovative approaches to sustainable development.

“As a wholly owned subsidiary of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, all profits are gift aided to the Trust to support nature conservation, and sustainability is at the heart of our core beliefs. Since Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) legislation became mandatory in February 2024, new developments will need to deliver a minimum 10% BNG and it’s never been more important for Contractors and Ecologists to work together for the benefit of the natural environment.

“We firmly understand the need for new developments in order to drive the economy forward, but we will be looking for contractors who are showcasing an innovative approach to embracing sustainability. Our role as the consultant ecologist is as much about protecting habitats as it is about offering added value advice to the developer so that the communities they create, incorporate diversity.”

Tutum Consulting – sponsor of Deal of the Year

The winner of Tutum Consulting’s category will be the deal that has truly pushed the boundaries over the last 12 months – from jobs created to complexity, size and scale. However, that’s not to say the biggest deal will automatically win; the deal which has had most impact in the East Midlands is what we’re looking for. The winning deal will have displayed courage in a tough market to deliver a great outcome for all concerned.

“We know firsthand the tremendous effort involved in bringing complex deals to fruition, and we want to acknowledge the teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to their project. By sponsoring this award, we aim to celebrate those who share our dedication to pushing boundaries and driving progress in the construction industry.”

Simon added: “The awards show is a fantastic way for colleagues in the industry to not just connect, but celebrate and promote their own services and achievements.

“For Tutum Consulting, this event is an invaluable opportunity to network with landowners, property developers, planners, and architects. We are keen to learn about other services in the East Midlands, identifying opportunities where our expertise can complement and enhance collaborative projects.”

Devello – sponsor of Residential Development of the Year

Devello Group is a specialist planning and property development practice with offices in Nottingham and Lincoln, founded by experienced lawyers Shruti Trivedi and Iain Hibbert. Their niche law firm can help clients with a wide range of services in the sector, operating with a bespoke, value-led approach that does not use a traditional hourly fee-paying model.

Devello Group also has a strategic arm, offering a high-level advisory service to developers, landowners, promoters and others in the planning and property development sectors.

The winner of Devello’s category will be the residential scheme that has displayed a true commitment to providing much-needed housing in the East Midlands. There is no size limit, but schemes must have been completed over the last 12 months.

Speaking with Business Link, Shruti Trivedi said: “Devello are delighted to be sponsoring the Bricks Awards as what better way to mark our own start as a brand new business offering to the region than by being associated with the Bricks who burst on the scene similarly a few years ago with an innovative and fresh approach.

“The Bricks have always been appealing as they value local and regional businesses in the region in an inclusive and fun manner but also connect these businesses with each other to foster relations and lay foundations for future working relationships. We are looking forward to being part of that community as that is very important to us as a regional firm and very much welcome the Awards as an opportunity to meet other businesses in a relaxed setting on the evening.”

Press For Attention PR – sponsor of Responsible Business

Press For Attention PR’s founder, Greg Simpson, quite simply thinks that PR is ‘broken’. It appears out of reach for so many businesses but it does not need to be like this. Greg established the agency in 2008 having spent the previous decade announcing business news to the regional and national press, or receiving it as a former journalist. He has worked for FTSE 100 firms, charities and start-ups and conducted press conferences with Sir Richard Branson and James Caan.

As well as being a former journalist, Greg has been a marketing manager for a £60m business, and is the author of The Small Business Guide To PR. This background ensures a deep understanding of every facet of a successful PR campaign – from a journalist’s, client’s and consultant’s perspective.

The winner of Press For Attention PR’s category will have demonstrated corporate responsibility in their field, working in harmony and for the betterment of the local community in which it operates and setting a shining example for the rest of the supply chain.

Greg Simpson, founder of Press for Attention PR, shared: “I have sponsored The Bricks for many years now and as far as I recall, always this particular category. Why is that? Well, it is the PR and the former journalist in me combined.

“There are some superb stories that come to light here that might otherwise struggle to make the news or are perhaps kept under the bushel to an extent. I get that. The work and changes that are being created are the key thing when it comes to being responsible from an ESG perspective, not the column inches. That being said, here’s a chance to cast off those sharing shackles and to shine the spotlight proudly on some of the fantastic feats and worthy work that is taking place across the region within the built environment. Cheers to you all.”

Viridis Building Services Ltd – sponsor of Sustainable Development of the Year

Growing your business by building greener, Viridis Building Services Ltd are experts in providing sustainable passive environmental building services solutions incorporating renewable, low carbon, low energy, H.V.A.C, M.E.P, systems for the built environment whilst meeting client’s aspirations, helping you create sustainable, appealing and cost-effective buildings on the journey to Net Zero.

The winner of Viridis’ category will be the scheme that has displayed a true commitment to sustainable development in the East Midlands, whether this be in an environmental development, social enterprise or a scheme which will benefit the region in other ways, so long as it benefits the future generation.

Speaking with Business Link, a spokesperson for Viridis Building Services Ltd said: “Viridis are proud to sponsor the Sustainable Development of the Year award for another year. We have promoted this award for the past few years due to our own values as a team and how these fits in with those.

“It allows us the opportunity to review innovative ideas, solutions, and developments in and around the East Midlands. We are passionate about sustainability and are proud to see that others have the same ethos as ourselves with their entries.

“We believe being involved in this award allows us to further promote these pragmatic design solutions to create new relationships to present to others what can be done – to hopefully create an even more innovative sustainable future through places and spaces.

“We feel that the Bricks is an opportunity to bring everyone in the area together to celebrate our achievements and promote our works to create a bigger and better East Midlands.”
