Wellgosh to close after 35 years

Leicester clothing retailer Wellgosh, which has stores in Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham, and a major online presence, is set to close.

On Twitter, the company announced: “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing down of Wellgosh.

“For over 35 years, Leicester has been the beating heart of our brand and we are grateful to our store teams and the dedicated community that we have created.

“Our website and stores will close shortly.”

Wellgosh was established in 1988 in Silver Arcade, Leicester, originally specialising in sourcing vintage and original clothing and evolving to become a major destination store for elevated street, skate and sneaker brands.

It was bought by JD Sports in 2021.
