< PreviousHere’s Frazer’s collection of the weird and wonderful ‘news’ that came his way over the last few weeks. And finally The world of Frazer 70 East Midlands Business Link www.eastmidlandsbusinesslink.co.uk The responsibility of employers How responsible are we for the acts of our workers…especially in the strangest of circumstances? Following an unusual workplace incident, an employer has been cleared of vicarious liability after an employee ‘accidentally’ urinated on another member of staff while they were asleep in shared accommodation. How such an ‘accident’ can happen, Frazer is not sure, unless their bedwetting is truly so extreme! With a suggestion that inebriation or at the least sleepwalking may have been the cause, the courts decided that without evidence of previous incidents between roommates or of an alcohol problem, the employer did not have a duty to take any measures in response to the risk. It was also pointed out that there is no evidence of the act being authorised by the employer. Boss horror With Halloween this month it seems apt that a horror story was recently shared with Frazer. While out with an old colleague in Nottingham, a tale was told of employee monitoring to the extreme after a woman discovered a tracker on her car, placed there by her boss without her knowledge or permission. If this wasn’t disturbing enough, at a team meeting he then displayed a map with all the locations she had visited, including the most personal, leaving her feeling completely embarrassed. Whether the woman will take legal action is to be seen. It comes after another suspicious employer was last month arrested for planting a GPS tracker on a staff member’s car amid an ongoing sick leave dispute. It appears trust between employee and employer isn’t so strong for everyone! An odd question A random question or two are not unheard of in job interviews, often leaving candidates unsure of how to respond. Well, to help prep you for these curveballs PushFar, the mentoring platform, has revealed the most peculiar questions people have been asked in an interview, as shared on Reddit, with some of them even more bizarre than you might expect. How would you respond to “what’s your Uber rating?” With honesty? Or how about “if you were a fruit or a vegetable, what would you be and why” or “do you believe in aliens?” Some have even simply been asked to “tell a good joke.” It’s a far cry from the interviews Frazer went on back in the day, though he’s always kept a solid joke in his back pocket. © stock.adobe.com/ weedezign © stock.adobe.com/ Viorel Sima © stock.adobe.com/ WrightStudioArmstrong house Armstrong House, Armstrong Street, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire DN31 2QE Tel: (01472) 310301 Email: s.fisher@blmgroup.co.uk Superb Location - - Close to the ports of Grimsby & Immingham - Great motorway links - Close to the town centre Secure off street parking High speed internet availability A range of affordable office sizes 3 3 3 3 Last remaining office suites Prime location in Grimsby Offering a prime position in Grimsby, Armstrong House on Armstrong Street is ideally located.
